Support the Production Manager by overseeing daily manufacturing or operational workflows, supervising floor staff, tracking inventory, and ensuring safety and quality standards are met. Individual will assist with managing both first and second shifts.

 

Duties and responsibilities

• Manage daily production operations across one or more manufacturing departments to meet schedule, quality, and cost targets
• Lead and develop a team of production supervisors and hourly workforce members, including coaching, and performance management
• Manage direct labor, overtime, and consumables and identify cost reduction opportunities
• Report to the Production Manager.
• Help plan and execute daily or weekly production schedules.
• Prepare daily reports and other documentation required by the Production Manager.
• Conduct routine quality control checks
• Overseeing quality control throughout the production process.
• Drive safety culture in the production area: enforce safety standards, and hold supervisors accountable for team safety behavior
• Monitor and improve production KPIs.
• Coordinate with maintenance, engineering, quality, and materials teams to resolve production constraints and equipment issues
• Lead or support continuous improvement projects targeting throughput increases, waste reduction, and quality improvements
• Manage workforce planning including headcount, cross-training, and succession for key production roles.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and customer-specific manufacturing standards and audit requirements
• Meet, coordinate and communicate with both shifts.
• Ability to work extended hours and weekends.
• Any other task assigned by Production Manager

 

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements

• Associate/bachelor's degree in operations management, business, or a related field preferred.
• Minimum 8-10 years in manufacturing with at least 5+ years in a supervisory or lead role, preferably automotive.
• Direct experience managing hourly production workforce
• Mig Weld experience preferred but, not mandatory.
• Strong leadership and team-coaching abilities.
• Clear communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to confidently and proactively supervise production teams.
• Competence with computer-based skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• OEE analysis: ability to decompose availability, performance, and quality components
• Lean manufacturing tools: 3C6S
• Quality systems: understanding of first-pass yield, and corrective action processes
• OSHA 1910 compliance requirements for manufacturing environments

Leadership skills:

• Supervisory feedback and performance management: documented corrective actions, development conversations, structured recognition
• Hiring and interviewing production supervisors and hourly workers
• Managing in a shift environment: communicating consistently across multiple shifts without being present on all of them.
