Join us in enabling Blue Origin's vision of millions of people living and working in space to benefit earth - passion for our mission is required!In this role, you will be responsible for developing our fault management and system autonomy (FMSA) architecture with an emphasis on associated processes, products, and analyses over all mission phases. You will work with fault protection and system autonomy requirements development, testing, validation, and verification efforts. The position requires strong collaboration within the Blue Ring spacecraft Systems Engineering, Integration & Test (SEIT) team and across the entire program. If you're excited by providing near-term value, solving novel problems, and expanding your technical toolkit, please apply!Responsibilities (including but not limited to):Establish and manage fault management architectures including design principles and requirementsDefine redundancy architecture, including cross-strapping and fault containment regions for integrated systemsArchitect, design, and analyze autonomous behaviors, modes, and statesPlan and execute integrated system Fault Management and Autonomy Verification and Validation effortsMonitor and approve fault management and autonomy design, development, and testDrive process improvements with a sense of ownership and urgencyQualifications:Minimum of a B.S. degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace engineering, Physics, or an equivalent technical field5+ years of experience with systems engineering principles and processes as they relate to the development of an aerospace systemDemonstrated experience with fault-tolerance strategies and architectures for safety and mission critical systemsExperience with autonomous system design, analysis, and testFamiliarity with embedded software system design or operationFirst principles knowledge of major spacecraft subsystemsFamiliarity with safety and mission assurance analyses including Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analyses (FMECA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Functional Hazard Analyses (FHAs)Ability to form relationships with experts from varying engineering fields and provide constructive feedback about FMSA, safety, and reliability concernsExcellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skillsSelf-directed and capable of balancing several tasks at one timeAbility to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationshipsAbility to work collaboratively in a fast paced, dynamic work environmentWillingness to travel 10-20%Ability to obtain a TS/SCI security clearance requiredPreferred Qualifications:M.S. degree in a relevant technical fieldActive TS/SCI security clearance preferredSubject matter expert in fault-tolerance strategies and architectures for safety and mission critical systemsEmbedded software design knowledge or experienceExperience defining and performing complex trade studiesExperience with design, development, and certification of spaceflight systems, and radiation environments and effectsExperience with logical and physical architecture definition and decompositionExperience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) testingBase Pay Range for:CA applicants is $121,023.00 - $169,432.20 CO applicants is $110,938.00 - $155,312.85 WA applicants is $121,023.00 - $169,432.20 VA applicants is $121,023.00 - $169,432.20Other site ranges may differCulture StatementDon't meet all desired requirements?
