Senior Accountant

Job Summary:

McCrory Construction is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team. The Senior Accountant will play a crucial role in managing financial reporting, budgeting, payroll, and accounting functions for our projects. The ideal candidate will have experience in the construction industry, strong analytical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively with project managers and other team members.

This is a full-time, salaried position based in Columbia, South Carolina.


Key Responsibilities

• Manage accounts receivable processes

• Monitor and report on A/R aging

• Reconcile key accounts and resolve discrepancies

• Process weekly payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal and state regulations

• Post weekly payroll entries accurately to the general ledger and make appropriate job cost allocations

• Maintain payroll records, including timesheets and deductions, and reconcile payroll accounts

• Maintain compliance with accounting standards and company policies


• Assist the CFO with monthly reporting


• Serve as the primary point of contact for third party audits

• Provide accounting and reporting support for subsidiaries

• Coordinate with broader accounting team to balance workload and back up support

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years experience in a full cycle accounting role, preferably in the construction industry

• Strong knowledge of GAAP and accounting principles

• Proficiency in accounting software (Viewpoint Spectrum a plus)

• Experience with advanced functions in Microsoft Excel

• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills

• Strong attention to detail and ability to work under tight deadlines

• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
