Our client in Torrington, Connecticut is seeking a Staff Accountant for a contract-to-permanent opportunity. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who is looking to contribute to day-to-day financial operations while gaining the opportunity to grow into a long-term position. The Staff Accountant will support core accounting functions and work closely with the finance team to help ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare and post journal entries
• Perform account reconciliations and maintain general ledger accuracy
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed
• Review financial data and reports for accuracy and completeness
• Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation
• Assist with variance analysis and other reporting tasks
• Support audits and special projects as assigned

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
• 1+ years of accounting experience preferred
• Strong understanding of general accounting principles
• Experience with general ledger reconciliations and journal entries
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
