RN - CVICU


Job Details:


• 36 or 48-hour contract options available
• Shift times: 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM or 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM
• Weekend rotation every other weekend
• No on-call requirements
• 1-2 holidays expected per contract
• 6-week schedule cycle with schedule provided 1-2 weeks prior to start
• Fatigue policy in place - cannot work more than 60 hours per week or 5 consecutive 12-hour shifts
• Minimum 3 years of ICU experience with 1 year of CVICU experience required
• First-time travelers accepted if minimum experience requirements are met
• Patient ratios: 1:1 or 1:2 for regular ICU status, 1:3 for mixed status
• Care for cardiac patients including immediate post-op CABG, TAVR/TMVR, valve repairs/replacements, heart transplants, and pacemakers
• Care for thoracic surgery patients including post-op esophagectomy, pneumonectomy, and lobectomy
• Care for vascular patients including post-op AAA, TVAR, and carotid endarterectomy
• Must be competent in invasive line monitoring (Swan Ganz, A-lines), pacemakers (epicardial, transvenous), chest tubes, cardiac medications (inotropes, vasopressors, sedation/paralytics), ventilator/trach management, and cardiac rhythm interpretation
• RN draws from invasive lines only; peripheral sticks not permitted
• EPIC EMR experience required
• Experience with ECMO, CVVH, IABP, and VAD preferred
• Required certifications: BLS, ACLS; CCRN preferred
• Equipment used: EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Pyxis medication dispensing, GE monitors
• Scrub color: Any solid color, professional - no graphics, logos, or designs
• Free parking available with shuttle service during day shifts and attached parking structure for night shifts
• May float to ED Holding, other ICUs (MRICU, SICU, CICU, Neuro ICU), MSU (1:3 ratio), Sitter, or PACU Surge


Facility:


This facility is a large 933-bed hospital designated as a Level II Trauma Center and Comprehensive Stroke Center, as well as a Level III NICU and Magnet-designated institution. The CVICU unit consists of 30 beds and is supported by a dedicated multidisciplinary team available 24/7, including a CVICU Intensivist, CT Surgeon on call, Hospitalist, General Intensivist, and ICU-designated Respiratory Therapist. Additional support includes a charge nurse, HUC coverage around the clock, bedside and nurses' station telemetry monitoring, and phlebotomy assistance for peripheral blood draws.
