Certified Veterinary Technician - Westfield Animal Hospital *** Up to $3,000 sign‑on bonus for qualified candidates, depending on experience! *** PetVet Care Centers' Westfield Animal Hospital is currently seeking a Veterinary Technician to join their team! Position Overview As a Certified Veterinary Technician, you will support hospital operations by providing dedicated, high‑quality veterinary care and exceptional service to our patients and clients. Your role includes determining animal needs, conducting examinations, assisting during surgery and procedures, performing nursing care, maintaining records, and ensuring a safe and humane environment. Key Responsibilities Determine animal requirements through examinations, interviews, care plan reviews, laboratory tests, and diagnostic imaging. Monitor patients by taking vital signs, collecting samples, administering medications, drugs, vaccines, and bandaging wounds. Support examinations and operations by assembling supplies, securing patients, restraining animals, and assisting the veterinarian as directed. Apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, and specialized equipment for comprehensive patient care. Obtain and verify medications, ensuring proper documentation and controlled‑drug security. Maintain a clean, safe, and humane environment through sterilization, disinfection, inventory control, and adherence to legal regulations. Maintain accurate medical records and update the database promptly. Communicate patient status to owners as directed by the veterinarian. Perform equipment maintenance, troubleshoot breakdowns, and coordinate repairs. Order supplies, manage inventory, and keep accurate receipts. Engage in continuous professional development and stay current with industry knowledge. Release patients to owners, ensuring they are clean and groomed. Follow oral and written directions; perform additional duties as assigned by management or practice leadership. Qualifications Minimum of 2 years of experience, primarily in dental and surgical veterinary support. Schedule Full‑time, Day Shift Monday, Wednesday, and additional days will be discussed during the interview process.
