Mobile Diesel Technician Level II Company: Cox Fleet, headquartered in Indianapolis, provides mobile maintenance and repair services for light, medium, and heavy‑duty fleet trucks and trailers. Responsibilities Perform scheduled preventative maintenance, DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on vehicles. Execute minor adjustments and repairs on truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling, steering, engine, transmission, clutch, differential, and more. Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck systems using test instruments, handheld computers and pressure gauges. Road‑test vehicles to confirm proper operation. Manage parts inventory, maintain the service vehicle, conduct safety checks and pre‑/post‑trip inspections. Communicate with customers to assess needs, provide details, resolve issues, or meet expectations. Prioritize assigned tasks and maintain daily schedule independently. Document work on Repair Orders, upload photos, and complete DOT forms in a timely manner. Obtain parts from approved vendors and coordinate with management for approval of repair estimates. Perform all work in compliance with OSHA, EPA, DOT, and company safety policies. Qualifications High School Diploma or GED (or equivalent degree/certification) and 3 years of related experience, or 5 years of experience. Possess required hand tools. Obtain ASE T8 (PMI) certification within 18 months. Pass DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background check, DOT physical, or provide a DOT medical card valid for more than 4 months. Be at least 21 years old. Hold a valid state driver’s license and maintain a Driver Qualification File. Certifications (Required / Preferred) Required: ASE T8 (PMI) Preferred: ASE T3, T4, T5, T6, T7 and ASE 608/609 Skills & Abilities Strong diagnostic and problem‑solving skills; apply logic to evaluate alternatives. Physical stamina: lift, bend, climb, stand, walk, and perform moderately heavy labor for extended periods. Effective communication; convey information clearly and engage in two‑way dialogue. Judgment of tools required and ability to measure distances accurately. Adaptable to new information and future decision‑making.
