The Pre-K Assistant Teacher supports the lead teacher in delivering a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for pre-kindergarten children. Reporting to the Director, this role involves assisting with lesson plans, supervising children, and maintaining classroom organization to foster early childhood development and positive behavior.
This position begins on August 31st. We follow a typical public school schedule with December, February, April, and Summer vacations. This position is a 10 month paid position, August 31 - June 20th. The hours are 7:30 -3:00 Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities
- Support lead teacher in daily classroom instruction and lesson activities
- Supervise and ensure the safety of pre-kindergarten children during activities
- Prepare materials and organize the classroom environment
- Assist with behavior monitoring and reinforcement of classroom rules
- Lead small group activities to enhance learning and development
- Collaborate with teaching staff to maintain a positive, supportive team atmosphere
Required Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience in early childhood education
- High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of child development principles
- Classroom management skills
- Strong communication abilities
- Patience and creativity in engaging young learners
- Ability to work effectively within a team
