About the Position

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 20-bed ICU (MICU/SICU/Neuro) environment with an average daily census of 16-17 patients, maintaining ratios of 1:1-2 for ICU and 1:3 when supporting Stepdown needs
• Manage and titrate a full range of ICU medical IV drips, including moderate conscious sedation, using medical IV pumps
• Collaborate with an in-house Pulmonary Critical Care Intensivist (days) and hospitalist (nights), as well as 24/7 respiratory therapy and pharmacy teams
• Document and coordinate care using EPIC EMR , with monitor data from Phillips Cardiac Monitors and ventilators flowing directly into the system
• Care for a mixed patient population including post-cath lab, balloon pump, thoracic, CRRT (NxStage), and general MICU/SICU/cardiac patients; no open hearts or bolt placements
• Support facility Stepdown needs as required; travelers are not typically floated outside of the ICU unit

• Active RN license valid in West Virginia
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Proficiency with EPIC EMR
• COVID-19 vaccination required (fully vaccinated: 2-dose Moderna or Pfizer series, or single-dose J&J); medical or religious exemption requests must be submitted promptly for review and approval
• Must reside more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible

• PALS certification preferred
• TNCC certification preferred
• Experience with balloon pump management, CRRT (NxStage), and/or ventilator-dependent patients
• Familiarity with Phillips Cardiac Monitors and Servo or Hamilton ventilators

• Work alongside a well-supported ICU team with 24/7 charge nurse coverage, in-house respiratory therapy, and on-unit pharmacy presence during the day
• Gain exposure to a diverse, high-acuity patient population in a structured environment with a dedicated preceptor orientation and schedule planning done at least two weeks in advance
