Join our dedicated team in the Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU), a 16-bed, 24/7 residential program providing behavioral health and substance use treatment for adults experiencing a mental health crisis. Our compassionate, recovery-focused approach offers crisis intervention, counseling, psychiatric and nursing support, medication management, detoxification services, and comprehensive discharge planning in a safe and supportive environment. As a Clinician, you will play a vital role in helping individuals achieve stabilization, build coping skills, and connect with community resources that support long-term recovery. - Provides therapeutic and clinical services to individuals and groups in accordance with professional standards, organizational policies, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Conducts clinical assessments and develops, implements, monitors, and updates individualized treatment plans based on client needs and goals.
- Applies appropriate therapeutic interventions, evidence-informed practices, and recovery-oriented approaches to support client progress.
- Manages assigned caseloads and coordinates services based on individual clinical needs, level of care, and program requirements.
- Maintains accurate, complete, and timely clinical documentation in electronic health records in accordance with organizational, regulatory, and reimbursement requirements.
- Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams, clients, families, community partners, and other service providers to support continuity and coordination of care.
- Participates in clinical supervision or consultation, team meetings, case reviews, and other activities supporting effective clinical practice.
- Provides crisis intervention, risk assessment, safety planning, and appropriate referrals or coordination as needed.
- Promotes trauma-informed, person-centered, culturally responsive, and recovery-oriented approaches to service delivery.
- Participates in quality improvement activities and supports the development and implementation of clinical or program initiatives.
- Maintains professional competencies and complies with applicable ethical, licensing, confidentiality, and clinical practice requirements.
- May provide consultation, guidance, training, or clinical support to colleagues and other staff as appropriate to qualifications and assigned responsibilities.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Master's degree in social work, counseling, psychology, or a related behavioral health field.
- Appropriate professional licensure, license eligibility, or other credential required for the position and assigned services.
- Relevant experience providing behavioral health, mental health, substance use, or other clinical services commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and electronic health record or documentation systems.
- OR an equivalent combination of education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities that demonstrates the capacity to perform the essential functions of the position, as permitted by applicable regulatory and licensing standards.
- Possession of a valid Virginia driver's license and a satisfactory driving record in accordance with agency policy.
- Experience providing therapeutic or clinical services in a behavioral health setting.
- Experience working with complex clinical needs or specialized populations.
- Familiarity with Medicaid, Virginia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services requirements, behavioral health regulations, and community-based service systems.
- Training or experience in trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, crisis response, and other evidence-informed or evidence-based practices.
- Experience providing clinical consultation, peer support, mentoring, or staff training.
- Knowledge of behavioral health systems, clinical interventions, treatment principles, and recovery-oriented practices.
- Knowledge of professional, ethical, documentation, confidentiality, and clinical compliance standards.
- Skill in conducting clinical assessments, developing treatment plans, and delivering therapeutic interventions.
- Skill in maintaining accurate, timely, and organized clinical documentation.
- Skill in applying critical thinking and clinical judgment to assess needs and identify appropriate interventions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective therapeutic and professional relationships.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, colleagues, service providers, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Ability to respond appropriately to crisis situations and changing client needs.
- Ability to collaborate effectively as part of an interdisciplinary service team.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, caseload responsibilities, and documentation requirements.
- Ability to learn and retain processes through instruction and apply them independently.
- Ability to identify potential problems and recognize circumstances in which additional intervention, consultation, or escalation may be needed.
- Ability to contribute to quality improvement, program development, and organizational initiatives as assigned
- Sedentary Work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. While the role may involve desk-based tasks, employees must be able to ambulate independently, operate a motor vehicle, and transition between office and field environments. Field-based responsibilities may include walking short distances, climbing stairs, and carrying essential work items such as a laptop.
- Close concentration, visual attention, and manual dexterity are required.
- Work is typically performed in behavioral health, office, community, or other service environments with minimal exposure to environmental hazards.
- Working conditions may fluctuate based on client acuity and behavioral presentations. Staff may be required to participate in crisis intervention and approved behavior management procedures consistent with training, organizational policy, and assigned responsibilities
