Registered Nurse (RN) - Inpatient Behavioral Health @ Cobb Hospital

Work Shift Day (United States of America) Shift Full-time/Days Job Summary The RN Clinical Nurse is a proactive member of an interdisciplinary team of licensed and unlicensed caregivers who ensure that patients, families and significant others receive individualized, high‑quality, safe patient care. The RN practices in a clinical environment administered by Nurse Managers and other leaders and supported through the Wellstar Shared Governance Model. Practice is steered by the Wellstar Professional Practice Model, evidence‑based practice and research, and RN competencies are derived from these models and supported by Wellstar Values. The RN upholds the Georgia Professional Nurse Practice Act, the Scope of Practice, and ANA Code of Ethics, and serves as a patient‑centered advocate while supporting service excellence goals. Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions Exemplary Practice and Outcomes A. Performs the Nursing Process (assessment, diagnosis, identification of outcomes, planning, implementation, and evaluation) using evidence‑based practice and analytical/critical thinking to ensure individualized care. B. Provides relationship‑based patient‑centered care consistent with population‑specific characteristics and cultural diversity. C. Partners with patients and significant others using appropriate methods for setting and purpose (e.g., bedside shift report, interdisciplinary rounds, patient teaching) and makes patient goals the focus of the plan of care. D. Practices current clinical practice standards. Teamwork and Collaboration (55%) A. Coordinates delivery and documentation of safe, quality patient care that promotes the professional care delivery model, including interdisciplinary communication methods and timely documentation. B. Demonstrates teamwork and collaboration in a fiscally responsible manner and supports recruitment and retention of all healthcare team members. C. Participates in performance improvement, research, and shared governance at all system levels. Professional Development and Initiative (10%) A. Completes all initial and ongoing professional competency assessment and required education. B. Serves as preceptor or mentor for other professional nurses and staff/student across disciplines to build a qualified workforce. Evidence‑Based Practice and Research (5%) A. Promotes evidence‑based practice, nursing research, and performance improvement; participates in value analysis for decision‑making. B. Upholds all system policies, procedures, and clinical competencies, including legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards such as TJC Patient Safety Goals. C. Participates in data collection and uses evidence to address clinical questions. Resources and Support (0%) A. Plans patient care across the continuum during direct patient care. B. Participates in protocol development to achieve best practice outcomes. C. Supports efficient use of human and material resources. Required Minimum Education Associate's Degree in Nursing or Graduate of accredited/approved school of nursing – Required Bachelor's Degree in Nursing – Preferred Required Minimum License(s) and Certification(s) All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated. Registered Nurse (Single State) or RN – Multi‑state Compact Basic Life Support (BLS) – Instructor Required Minimum Experience Less than 1 year; completion of accredited/approved school of nursing with required clinical hours – Required. Direct patient care experience – Preferred. Required Minimum Skills Ability to read, write, and speak English. Optimize the use of technology to support clinical care and possess basic computer skills. Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and customer service skills. Ability to function in a fast‑paced environment and respond to emergencies with a decisive, composed, and respectful manner.
