Purchasing Agent

Location: Valley City, ND Reports To: Inventory Control Manager Type: Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Classification: Hourly Non-Exempt The Purchasing Agent provides essential administrative and data entry support for purchasing and inventory processes. This role is highly detail-oriented, with a focus on accurate recordkeeping, purchase order processing, and assisting with day-to-day tasks that keep the department operating efficiently. Essential Functions Enter purchase orders into the inventory system and online platforms with accuracy and timeliness. Maintain purchase order records, including: o Past Due PO Review/Cleanup Unconfirmed PO Review/Cleanup oStolen Parts Process AGCO Returns Processing, ensuring timely credits and accurate tracking. Support inventory management activities, including: o Data entry for new items Adjustments oProduction tickets Physical cycle counts (occasionally conducted in the warehouse) Serve on phone rotation, taking assigned shifts as the first line of contact for incoming calls. Clear Communicator: Capable of relaying information in a professional and approachable manner. Technically Proficient: Comfortable using Microsoft Excel and office software for routine tasks. Strong accuracy and attention to detail in administrative or data-entry tasks. Previous experience in purchasing, procurement, or an administrative support role. Familiarity with ERP or inventory management systems. Knowledge of basic purchasing procedures or office workflows. Supervisory Responsibility This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Occasionally, tasks may require working in the warehouse environment, particularly during physical cycle counts or other inventory-related activities. Physical Demands Professional office environment with standard office equipment (computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines). Regularly required to talk, hear, sit, stand, walk, handle objects, and reach with hands/arms. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Ability to safely navigate both office and warehouse settings.
