The City of Navasota, TX is seeking a Police Officer. The salary range is $60,236.80 - $77,916.80 annually. The position is full-time and is located in Navasota, TX.
The job duties include patrolling an assigned area, responding to emergency calls and routine complaints, directing and escorting traffic, operating traffic radar monitoring equipment, issuing traffic citations, investigating traffic accidents, questioning witnesses, complainants, and suspects, serving warrants and making arrests, keeping records of activities and making reports concerning crimes, complaints, accidents, and investigations, appearing in court as required, sharing information and working with other law enforcement agencies as directed and appropriate, conducting security checks of businesses and residential areas on patrol route, responding to animal control calls, assisting in criminal investigations, tagging and logging in evidence, maintaining on-call status and working overtime as necessary, specializing in traffic, suspect apprehension, directed patrol, or other areas as assigned, and occasionally relieving Communications Operator as necessary.
Other important duties include performing such other related duties as may be assigned, having knowledge of applicable state, federal, and local laws, techniques and procedures used in the law enforcement field, accident investigation, city ordinances, radar operation and applicable procedures of use, and the use and care of vehicles, firearms, and specialized equipment, and having the skill/ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions, departmental policies, rules, regulations, and laws, operate a vehicle under emergency conditions, attend and understand police officer training courses, establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other law enforcement agencies, judicial officials, and the general public, demonstrate proficiency in both oral and written communication, analyze situations and adopt a quick, effective, and reasonable course of action, maintain accurate records, tolerate outside working conditions, including exposure to adverse weather conditions, and maintain appropriate necessary certifications, Texas driver's license applicable to job responsibilities, and good driving record.
Qualifications include a high school diploma or its equivalent (GED), graduation from a state-approved police academy with a current valid TCOLE license, or the ability to obtain a TCOLE license, not having been convicted, placed on probation, or ordered community supervision by a court of a class B misdemeanor or higher in the last ten years, not having been convicted of family violence, not ever having been convicted of an offense Class A Misdemeanor or above, and not having been discharged from any branch of military service for less than honorable conditions. Required certificates and licenses include Basic Certification by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) or possessing acceptable training to meet minimum standards for initial licensure as outlined in the current Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officer Texas Administrative Code 217.1 and appropriate Texas driver's license.
