Position: Registered Veterinary Technician - South Novato Animal Hospital PetVet Care Centers' South Novato Animal Hospital is currently seeking a Registered Veterinary Technician to join their team! Position Overview The Registered Veterinary Technician will support hospital operations by providing dedicated quality veterinary care and exceptional service to patients and clients. Key Responsibilities Determine animal requirements by conducting examinations and interviews, reviewing care plans and records, completing laboratory tests and studies, and diagnostic imaging. Care for patients by taking vital signs, collecting samples, administering medications and vaccines, and bandaging wounds. Support patient examinations and operations by assembling required supplies, restraining patients, and assisting the veterinarian as directed. Apply full knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, pharmacology, specialized equipment usage, and specialized drug administration. Obtain and verify medications; ensure patients have food and water. Maintain a safe, secure, healthy, and humane environment—sterilize instruments, disinfect areas, store supplies, and follow legal regulations. Maintain medical records—document patients’ conditions and update the database accurately and timely. Communicate with pet owners about patient status as directed by the veterinarian. Maintain equipment and inventory; perform preventive maintenance and call for repairs. Participate in educational opportunities and read professional journals to update job knowledge. Release pets to owners as directed, ensuring they are clean and properly groomed. Understand and carry out oral and written directions; perform other duties as assigned by Manager or practice. Qualifications (Required) High school diploma or GED. Two or more years of experience with veterinary appointments, surgeries, and nursing care for hospitalized and critical patients. Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) as required by State. Preferred Skills (Nice to Have) Displays desire to build rapport, provide personal assistance, and emotional support. Works cooperatively with team to accomplish goals. Demonstrates responsibility in completing tasks and delivering results. Proactively seeks opportunities to address and follow through on work activities. Adapts quickly to changing demands and manages multiple priorities effectively. Uses effective and appropriate methods of interacting with others. Provides outstanding service and exceeds customer expectations. Monitors and reviews information thoroughly and maintains an organized system for documents. Consistently follows standard procedures.
