Registered Nurse – ICU (Intensive Care Unit)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Nights | 4x12-Hour Shifts (19:00–07:30) | Every other weekend, floating, and holidays required within contract period

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct critical care nursing to ICU patients with a typical patient ratio of 1:2–3
• Manage ventilator-dependent patients and perform IV drip titration
• Monitor telemetry, recognize and manage dysrhythmias, and respond to emergent situations
• Administer and monitor conscious sedation as required
• Apply NIH Stroke Scale assessments and deliver strong neuro critical care
• Float as needed to Stepdown, Emergency Department, or Medical-Surgical units to care for ICU-level patients being held

Required Qualifications

• Active Virginia or Compact RN license in hand at time of submission — no exceptions
• Proficiency in Epic EMR — no exceptions
• BLS certification (American Heart Association only)
• ACLS certification (American Heart Association only)
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Must pass an EKG/telemetry competency test with a score of 80% or higher prior to start (one attempt; no remediation available)

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Minimum three years of critical care or ICU nursing experience strongly preferred; strong candidates with less experience may be considered
• Previous travel nursing experience preferred
• Strong neuro critical care background
