Job Overview Are you a supply chain leader who enjoys owning the full picture-people, materials, suppliers, schedules, inventory, and customer delivery? This role offers the opportunity to lead a buyer/planner/scheduler team supporting a defined value stream within the Southern Pines manufacturing operation. You'll have the autonomy to run your portion of the business, partner closely with operations and supply chain peers, and directly impact on-time shipment, inventory performance, supplier accountability, and production execution. The Supply Chain Leader will own supply chain activities for a defined value stream/product family, ensuring customer demand is supported with the right material at the right time while balancing inventory and operational priorities. You'll lead a team of buyers, planners, and schedulers responsible for material availability, production scheduling, supplier follow-up, inventory management, and customer shipment commitments. This is a highly visible, hands‑on leadership role working across supply chain, manufacturing operations, suppliers, and business-unit stakeholders to keep production moving, reduce past‑due backlog, improve on-time shipment, and strengthen inventory and supplier performance. The ideal candidate will bring strong buying, planning, scheduling or materials experience within a manufacturing environment‑preferably assembly‑based‑with exposure to bills of material, ERP systems, supplier constraints, production schedules, and customer delivery requirements. Experience with the company’s specific ERP system is not required, but you should understand how ERP supports plant supply chain operations and be comfortable using data, Excel, and disciplined follow‑up to drive results. Success will also require strong communication, organization, follow‑through, and the ability to build effective relationships with direct reports and cross‑functional partners. For a supply chain professional seeking autonomy, team leadership, and visible impact, this is an opportunity to strengthen performance and drive meaningful improvement within an established business. Responsibilities Production Planning & Scheduling Translate the monthly SIOP consensus plan by product family into a detailed weekly Master Production Schedule (MPS) with a 12-18-month planning horizon in the ERP for weekly MRP generation. Maintain the material plan within the time fence to ensure continuity of supply. Identify and resolve capacity, resource, and material constraints. Facilitate long‑term capacity assessments (RCCP) and develop countermeasure/action plans. Conduct lead‑time analysis, measure gaps against published lead times, drive corrective actions, and update published lead times as needed. Coordinate with planners to achieve assigned serviceability and inventory goals. Interface with required functional groups to resolve challenging delivery requirements. ERP / MRP Management & Data Integrity Monitor and drive resolution of MRP processing errors. Manage ERP‑generated exception messages in a timely manner. Serve as the factory subject matter expert (SME) for ERP production planning and scheduling modules within the assigned business unit. Maintain the integrity of ERP planning parameters, including lead times, lot sizes, safety stock, delivery times, and order file data for all master‑scheduled items. Maintain item master lead‑time information based on process improvements, current constraints, total demand by product family, and priority requirements. Supplier Management & Material Availability Engage with suppliers to secure inventory flow needed to support plant shipment goals. Communicate forecasts and replenishment plans to suppliers. Review open requirements, monitor supplier performance, and expedite deliveries as needed. Expedite deliveries to meet or exceed critical schedule requirements. Ensure supplier issues related to delivery, quality, or pricing are communicated and resolved promptly. Coordinate with Quality Assurance to resolve supplier quality issues. Resolve invoicing discrepancies with suppliers and Accounting. Develop effective methods for monitoring supplier agreements that support future cost savings and inventory goals. Customer Delivery & Service Support Support Customer Service with exception‑request analysis and expediting resolution. Help drive delivery performance, reduce supply disruptions, and support customer shipment commitments. Apply root‑cause problem solving to resolve supply disruptions and achieve inventory targets. Reporting & Performance Management Create and publish daily, weekly, and monthly reports covering factory schedule adherence, capacity, and inventory. Analyze and report key performance indicators, including delivery performance, backlog, performance to master schedule, and inventory turns. Maintain productivity pipelines and financial records used to report and track improvement initiatives. Continuous Improvement & Cost Productivity Drive continuous process improvement and identify opportunities to increase efficiency. Challenge existing processes when more effective alternatives are available. Identify and implement cost‑reduction and productivity projects aligned with corporate initiatives and goals. Team Leadership & Development Develop, coach, and mentor team members to achieve outstanding results. Lead and direct others as needed to accomplish organizational objectives. Project & Cross‑Functional Support: Manage projects and perform other duties as needed. Requirements BS/BA degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred; equivalent relevant experience may be considered. 5+ years of manufacturing supply chain experience, including materials management, buying, planning, production control, master scheduling, inventory, and customer delivery support. 3+ years supporting material availability, production schedules, MRP/ERP‑driven planning, inventory performance, customer demand, and plant shipment targets. 3+ years working directly with suppliers to manage material availability, delivery performance, follow‑up, issue resolution, and accountability. 2+ years leading, coaching, mentoring, or providing day‑to‑day direction to buyers, planners, schedulers, materials, or other supply chain team members.
