Senior Accountant – Private Wealth - Family Office Downtown Chicago | Hybrid A sophisticated, Chicago-based private family office managing a complex portfolio of investments and assets across 40+ entities is seeking a Senior Accountant to own key accounting, reporting, and close activities. What You'll Do: Own day-to-day accounting and general ledger activity across 40+ entities — ensuring accurate coding, classifications, and documentation Lead month-end and quarter-end close processes including reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and financial statement preparation Prepare and review cash and liquidity reporting — monitoring daily cash activity and coordinating funding across entities and investment accounts Analyze financial results, variances, and trends — providing insights and flagging risks and anomalies to leadership Oversee accounts payable workflow including invoice review, approvals, intercompany billing, and allocations Coordinate retrieval and review of bank, brokerage, and credit card statements across multiple financial institutions Maintain clear electronic workpapers and close schedules that support audit readiness and repeatable processes Coordinate tax documentation and support annual compliance, audits, and filings with external advisors What We're Looking For: Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance 6+ years of progressive accounting experience Experience supporting multiple entities and complex structures — family office or investment accounting exposure a plus Strong knowledge of US GAAP including reconciliations, accruals, and financial statement preparation Hands‑on QuickBooks experience preferred; strong Excel skills required Experience with AP automation tools (AvidXchange, Bill.com, Ramp, or similar) strongly preferred Self‑motivated, detail‑oriented, and comfortable owning the close calendar independently Why This Role Stands Out: Rare family office seat — broad exposure across investments, entities, and private wealth structures Full benefits package including medical, dental, vision, and 401(k) Collaborative, lean team environment with direct access to leadership #J-18808-Ljbffr Buckingham Search
