HVAC Controls Lead Systems Specialist

Responsibilities Act as the on‑site project leader to plan, execute, and complete projects with assigned customers under general direction. Perform or delegate tasks necessary to fully execute assigned projects, including hardware design, system programming, installation coordination, system and network commissioning, and project closeout. Manage the overall financial results of assigned projects, including costs, project billings, and collections. Maintain customer satisfaction while ensuring profitable and accurate project financial results. Pursue selling change orders actively. Coordinate communication with the customer throughout all project phases. Ensure proper execution of warranty and provide warranty letters to customers upon substantial completion. Provide work direction to subcontractors, electrical installers, technicians, designers, and administrative staff as necessary. Ensure work complies with AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction) and all applicable local, state, and federal legal requirements. Adhere to Johnson Controls safety standards and ensure all staff and subcontractors do the same. Manage selection, ordering, budgeting, and delivery schedule of materials for projects using web‑based tool processes. Secure pricing and availability from outside vendors, subcontractors, and suppliers; obtain multiple bids when required. Oversee subcontractor payment and billing processes. Coordinate site activities for panel and field device installations. Ensure installation conforms to Johnson Controls standards and project requirements. Manage and complete loading, device verification, and commissioning of all system controllers as required. Validate complete system functionality and resolve issues to ensure proper operation. Provide accurate project as‑built and commissioning documentation. Complete project billings in a timely and accurate manner. Maintain profitability goals and positive cash flow through best business practices and continuous improvement metrics. Provide coaching, mentoring, and technical assistance to system technicians, electrical installers, and system designers. Communicate project status to management and provide monthly forecasts of revenue, costs, and gross margin. Develop project plans and coordinate required resources to ensure timely and cost‑effective installation and completion. Perform site‑specific training for owner/operator on the total system, and ensure they have been trained. Provide documentation and manuals for system operation. Develop and maintain long‑term relationships with contractors, clients, consultants, and subcontractors. Attend job progress meetings as required. Coordinate with Project Engineers on bundled jobs to deliver cost‑efficient solutions that exceed customer expectations. Follow all safety standards and demonstrate the highest regard for employee and subcontractor safety. Qualifications Technical associate’s degree with four years of field experience or six years of equivalent experience in the industry. Experience in Access Control, Fire, Video, and/or systems design and commissioning. Appropriate licensing, certifications, and hands‑on experience. Demonstrated ability to perform work independently. Strong personal computer skills. Knowledge of project accounting, costing principles, and contracting preferred. Salary Range $60,000 – $105,000 (Salary determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location, and alignment with market data.)
