Position Highlights:

• Position: Cath Lab Nurse
• Location: Main Hospital – 2351 G Road

 

Work Summary:

The Registered Nurse is responsible for providing safe and effective nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic cardiac catheterization procedures

Responsibilities:

 

General Patient Care:

• Assess the patient upon admission to the cardiac cath lab department, ensuring all labs orders and results are in patient chart, H & P within 30 days of procedure, contrast allergy noted, consents are present and familiarize self with patient chart.
• Adhere to all patient safety policy and protocol.
• Comply with all regulatory requirements including but not limited to TJC, OSHA, CMS, SCAI, ACC
• Explain procedures to patient and family and answers questions to assist with alleviating apprehension and to verify understanding of procedure.
• Demonstrate competency and understanding of cath lab procedures 12 lead analysis.
• Demonstrate competency and understanding of cardiac calculations to include but not limited to Fick, Shunt, CO/CI. Saturations.
• Provide pre/intra/post procedure nursing care (assessment, monitoring, intervention and education) related to diagnostic and therapeutic adult cardiac catheterization procedures including (but not limited to) angioplasty, coronary stents, Swan Ganz/right heart catheterization, and pericardiocentesis.
• Actively monitor patient during adult cardiac catheterization procedures (vitals, etc.). Identifies changes in patient status and notifies physician of changes. Initiate and maintain precautions to ensure patient safety pre/intra/post procedure.
• Ensure all needed supplies and equipment are available pre/intra/post procedure.
• Respond to life-saving situations based upon nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Collaborate and coordinate the continuum of care within a multi-disciplinary team and across service line and organization.
• Provides individualized discharge education and teaching when appropriate.
• Perform patient care according to patient priority (includes interventions identified through nursing diagnoses), and departmental, divisional, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain safe environment for patients, visitors and staff.

 

Medication administration:

• Administer intravenous and oral medications to patients per physician order and according to policy and procedure.
• Identify physiologic responses to medication and respond appropriately.
• Complete medication reconciliation/charges.

 

Other Duties:

• Acts as a resource for post catheterization patients transferred to inpatient units.
• Acts as preceptor for new hires and provides education to staff as indicated.
• Follow Community Hospital policies and procedures in accordance with accrediting bodies’ requirements.
• Timely, accurately, and completely enter supply charges.

 

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree in nursing from accredited Registered Nurse Program or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two (2) years of cardiac catheterization experience required.
• Current, unrestricted licensure as a Registered Nurse in Colorado
• Current BLS
• Current ALS
• RCIS preferred, or obtained within one (1) year

 

 

Compensation:

• $44.00 – $50.60 per hour, depending on education and experience.
• Discretionary bonuses, relocation expenses, merit increase, market adjustments, recognition bonuses, and other forms of discretionary compensation may be available.

• Relocation: Must relocate to Grand Junction, CO 81505 after starting work.
• Work Location: In-person/onsite
