Transportation & Highway Technical Manager – Civil Engineering our client is seeking a Transportation & Highway Technical Manager / Civil Engineer to provide senior-level technical leadership on highway and roadway design projects throughout Upstate New York. This role is ideal for an experienced Civil Engineer or Transportation Engineer who is passionate about transportation infrastructure, roadway design, and mentoring engineering teams. As a Technical Manager, you will lead hands-on highway and roadway design, guide engineering staff, and ensure high-quality project delivery for clients including NYSDOT and local municipalities. You will play a key role in technical decision-making, project quality, and team development while helping deliver impactful transportation infrastructure projects across the region. What You’ll Do as a Transportation & Highway Technical Manager Deliver transportation projects that improve mobility, safety, and quality of life in local communities. Foster a high-performing, motivated team through clear expectations, constructive feedback, mentoring, and career development. Oversee the design and execution of highway engineering projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulations, and client requirements. Serve as a technical lead, guiding the team on best practices, decisions, and troubleshooting as needed. Implement and oversee quality control processes and conduct technical audits to ensure high standards. Maintain effective communication with project managers, clients, and cross-functional teams. Ensure effective resource allocation, adequate staffing, and utilization to meet project and team goals. Assist in recruiting top engineering talent who align with the team’s technical excellence and company culture. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance team performance. Stay current with transportation design trends and emerging technologies, integrating them into project solutions. Contribute to the organization's technical strategy and help forecast future technical needs.
