FOOD UNIT LEAD (FULL TIME)

Job Overview Full time Food Unit Lead positions at Chartwells K12 in Munster, IN. Location: 8616 Columbia Avenue, Munster, IN 46321. Schedule: Monday through Friday, hours may vary. Pay: $16.00–$21.00 per hour. Open to online applications only. Responsibilities Provide quality customer service by giving one‑on‑one attention to detail. Oversee and participate in the preparation and service of food and beverage items in accordance with company standards for presentation, sanitation, safety and portion control. Help plan menus. Ensure timely, efficient meal service and supervise serving of meals. Respond to customer complaints in person at the time and via email for electronic complaints. Train employees; assign and coordinate work to promote efficiency and excellence in food and service. Determine work procedures, prepare work schedules and expedite workflow. Use proper systems for completion of required daily/weekly/monthly reports such as inventory‑cash reports, production records, payroll and time‑keeping. Handle cash as established by the Food Accounting Manual (deposits – petty cash – change funds). Order food and other necessary supplies from approved sources or purveyors. Direct and participate in overall sanitation and safety of the facility and employees in accordance with company standards and government regulations. Develop sanitation schedule and ensure food‑service employees adhere to cleaning of kitchen and dining area and washing of kitchen utensils and equipment. Issue written and oral instructions. Select and orient employees; oversee staff training in areas of responsibility. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Previous experience in managing a kitchen staff is required. Must be able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Florida Level 2 background screening may be required.
