Senior Principal Software Engineer

Salary: $135,200 - 306,400 per year Requirements:

• We architect, design, and operate distributed services that support data center lifecycle workflows, including planning, design, build, and operations.
• We own feature delivery from design through production rollout, including implementation, testing strategy, deployment planning, and operational readiness.
• We work in a builder-operator model by building, deploying, and participating in on-call rotations while driving reliability improvements from incidents and operational insights.
• We lead technical reviews, including architecture and functional design reviews, and maintain clear documentation with secure-by-default, supportable designs.
• We strengthen engineering velocity and quality through better code review practices, broader automated test coverage, and improved CI/CD, test automation, and deployment automation.
• We partner with Product Managers and leadership to turn requirements into roadmaps and execution plans, clearly communicating trade-offs, risks, and milestones.
• We mentor engineers at all levels and set expectations for operational excellence, observability, and proactive ownership across teams.
• We reduce operational toil by investing in automation, self-service, and observability tooling such as metrics, logs, and tracing, while improving incident response and runbooks.
• We collaborate with dependent teams across networking, security, identity, observability, storage, and release engineering to deliver integrated solutions.
• We contribute to the long-term technical direction of our data center software platforms by identifying modernization opportunities, standardizing interfaces, and improving the end-to-end lifecycle experience.

This is a senior IC5 position that blends architecture with hands-on delivery, with a strong focus on reliability, operability, engineering standards, and cross-team collaboration.
