Incumbent(s) may not be required to perform all duties listed and may be required to perform additional, position-specific duties.***In area of assignment:*** Responsible for a wide variety of cleaning and general custodial services; empties trash and removes to outside trash containers; and changes lining in trash containers as needed; within offices, dusts and clean desks, chairs, cabinets, and telephones; cleans window sills; washes windows on both the inside and outside of building; and dust mops tile floors within offices on a regular basis.* Thoroughly cleans floors and other furnishings on a regular basis; wet mops tile floors; cleans restrooms including emptying of trash, sweeps floor, cleans wash basins and urinals in men's restroom, toilets, walls on bathroom stalls, mirrors and wet mops the floor; replaces soap and paper product supplies in restrooms and sanitizes restroom floors; sweeps outside and inside entry areas as directed; dust and wet mops the hallways; light fixtures, and ceiling fans as needed.* Sweeps and maintains sidewalk areas around facilities.* Performs daily walk-throughs to identify items that need maintenance such as light bulb replacement, clogged drains, toilets, and other minor repairs.* Maintains physical and perpetual inventories; monitors level of supplies available and informs supervisor, in writing, when new supplies are required.* Performs other job-related duties as assigned.**Required Knowledge of:*** Principles and processes for providing customer service to clients.* Cleaning equipment, products, techniques and standards.* Application tools, equipment, and materials common to the custodial functions.* Basic preventative and general maintenance.* Buffing, waxing, stripping, polishing hard surfaced floors and shampooing of carpet.* Safety practices common to custodial duties and activities; and driver safety, decision making and prioritizing.* Effective communication principles and practices including verbal and written communication; to include customer service skills.* English usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation.**Required Skill in:*** Customer service and ability to work with potentially difficult clientele, including senior citizens.* Using cleaning products and equipment.* The use and care of hand tools and power equipment necessary to perform custodial work.* Documenting required data through logs and reports.* Communicating effectively verbally and in writing, including customer service.* Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public, including meeting and dealing tactfully with the public.**Physical Demands / Work Environment:*** Work is performed in all County facilities in office, detention center and facilities maintenance environments.* Essential and supplemental functions require maintaining physical condition necessary for sitting, walking or standing for prolonged periods of time, bending or stooping, climbing up and down stairs and ladders, and carrying and lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds.* Work regularly requires speaking, hearing and utilizing a phone or cell phone.* Work requires the manual dexterity, visual acuity and hearing acuity sufficient to perform essential and supplemental duties.* Regularly may be exposed to large and working machinery, potential physical harm, infectious disease and hazardous chemicals while performing custodial tasks.* Operates a County vehicle as necessary to perform job duties and to attend meetings, training, etc.* Work is performed on any assigned shift during weekdays, weekends, and holidays.* Mandatory Overtime work may be required on a frequent basis. #J-18808-Ljbffr
