Overview Medical Instrument Technologist (EEG), Tacoma, WA About the Position: This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Army Medical Center Madigan to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. This position is located at Madigan Army Medical Center, Department of Medicine, Neurology Service. Recruitment and/or relocation incentive is authorized for highly qualified candidates. For more information, visit: Responsibilities Major Duties Conducts electroencephalograms (EEG) on patients. Reviews patient’s clinical history for common and complicated medical conditions. Employs sterile techniques when conducting EEG procedures in all areas of the hospital. Selects from a variety of electrodes and determines the best suited for each individual case. When necessary, provide emergency care (i.e., CPR or First Aid) until clinician arrives. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Conditions of employment Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation. Required to be screened for and obtain necessary immunizations/vaccinations (hepatitis, influenza, etc.), unless exempted by a licensed physician. This position requires Basic Life Support (BLS) training certification from, or in accordance with, the American Heart Association and American Red Cross. Required to lift up to 45 lbs. in the regular performance of duties. Pre-employment physical required and annually thereafter. This position has been designated “Mission Essential”. In the event of severe weather conditions or other such emergency type situations the incumbent may be required to report to work or remain at work as scheduled to support mission operations. This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations. This position is designated as having regular and recurring contact with children under the age of 18 and is subject to requirements of DoDI 1402.05 and AR 600-78. Inclement Weather Essential position. This position requires on-call work during irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or varying schedules. This is a drug testing position. A Personnel Security Investigation is required. Who May Apply Who May Apply: US Citizens Basic Requirements Basic Requirement For Medical Instrument Technician (EEG) Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes experience conducting electroencephalographic (EEG) examinations, operating and monitoring EEG equipment. OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field directly related to the work of the position, such as EEG Technology. OR Combination of Experience and Education: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify. Compute the percentage as described in federal guidance. A certificate as a Registered Electroencephalographic (EEG) Technician is highly desirable but not required. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet qualification requirements, you must have your education credentials evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
