Ballyhoo Hospitality Group is seeking an energetic, hospitality focused Host to join our team at Sophia Steak, Chicago.

Concept Overview: Sophia Steak is a Ballyhoo Hospitality concept that reimagines the classic steakhouse through a modern neighborhood lens, with locations in Downtown Chicago, Wilmette, and Lake Forest. Known for prime steaks, fresh seafood, seasonal dishes, and indulgent sides, the restaurant balances timeless steakhouse traditions with a vibrant and approachable dining experience. Each location features a stylish dining room and lively bar where guests gather for celebratory dinners, business meals, or relaxed evenings over classic cocktails and a thoughtfully curated wine list. The atmosphere blends polished design with warm hospitality, creating a destination that feels both refined and welcoming. Sophia Steak locations also feature elegant private dining spaces designed for celebrations, private events, and group gatherings.

Job Summary: The Host role is pivotal in creating a positive first impression for our guests. The ideal candidate will be pleasant, detail-oriented, and consistently professional, possessing strong hospitality instincts and a genuine drive to exceed guest expectations. Success in this role requires the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, communicate effectively, and contribute to smooth service operations and the delivery of high-quality service.

Job Requirements & Qualifications: Primary duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Create and maintain a strong connection to the guests and community.
• Exude warmth and hospitality in all interactions.
• Drive sales and covers through acute management of reservation software.
• Ensure the overall guest experience exceeds expectations and build relationships with guests while encouraging regulars.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both with guests and team members.
• Serve guests as part of a team by anticipating their needs, initiating conversation, offering assistance and advice.
• Ability to work cohesively with co-workers both front and back of the house.
• Ability to learn the menu and comfortably guide the guest.
• Passion to learn and participate in daily food and beverage training.
• Proficiency in Restaurant reservation systems.
• Ability to maintain a clean working environment.
• Must pass general information and food and beverage quizzes.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
• ServSafe Food Handler Certified.
• Night and weekend availability is required.

Compensation Details

Compensation: Hourly ($18.00)
