Job Summary

Join a dedicated team at a smaller, independent community hospital located in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, along the I-70 corridor. This facility is committed to providing high-quality care to its local community members, allowing them to heal close to home.

As a Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) Registered Nurse, you will provide specialized care to critically ill cardiovascular patients, including those immediately post-operative (Day 0) from cardiac procedures. The unit also requires flexibility to cover the Critical Care Unit (CCU) as needed. The hospital features two Cath Labs, one of which is a Hybrid Cath Lab, indicating a dynamic and advanced cardiac care environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the CVICU, including post-cardiac surgery (Day 0) patients.
• Monitor, assess, and manage patients with complex cardiovascular conditions and hemodynamic instability.
• Administer medications, titrate vasoactive drips, and manage advanced life support equipment.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians and the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Float to the Critical Care Unit (CCU) as staffing needs dictate, providing high-acuity critical care.
• Maintain accurate and thorough patient documentation.

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license.
• Minimum of 3 years of recent Critical Care (ICU/CVICU) experience.
• Demonstrated strong CVICU skills, with specific experience in Day 0 post-cardiac surgery patient care.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).
• Proof of current Flu Vaccine required; no exemptions.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

Skills & Competencies

• Expertise in advanced cardiac monitoring, including invasive hemodynamic monitoring.
• Proficiency in ventilator management and respiratory support.
• Strong critical thinking, assessment, and problem-solving skills in high-acuity situations.
• Ability to manage complex medication regimens, including continuous infusions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective team collaboration and patient/family education.
• Adaptability and willingness to float between CVICU and CCU environments.

Shift Details

• Shift Type: Nights
• Shift Duration: 12 hours (7:00 PM - 7:30 AM)
• Days per Week: 3
• Weekend Rotation: Required
• Call Requirements: Participate in a call rotation, taking 1 call shift per 2-week period.
• Contract Length: 13 weeks

Licensing Requirements

• Active Colorado Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
