Event Technician (PT)

Job Summary This position is responsible for assisting the Cultural Facility Manager in planning, set up and operation of Cultural events, classes and activities. This includes event organizing, scheduling, promoting, ticket sales, set up and tear down, volunteer supervision, and customer service. Frequent weekend and evening hours are required for this position. Responsibilities Assist event organizers in determining technical requirements; manage audio and video equipment, troubleshoot less-complex issues; ensure sound and video for events meets departmental expectations. Assist with set‑ups and tear‑downs in the PACE center, the Schoolhouse, and the Ruth Memorial Chapel; reconfigure event spaces for a variety of classes, workshops, meetings and events. Understands and receives cross‑training in facility operations, may staff these functions as needed. Maintain restroom facilities before, during and after events; clean toilet/sink, mop, vacuum, sweep and replenish facility supplies. Provide excellent customer service and create positive relationships with facility users and renters. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications At least 16 years of age. Experience with events or event set‑up and/or customer service is preferred. Knowledge of relevant town, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies. Knowledge of modern office practices, including computer use and standard office equipment. Knowledge of customer service techniques. Ability to follow and give clear verbal and written instructions; able to report operations accurately. Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously with attention to detail. Ability to interact tactfully and courteously with the public. Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle stressful or hostile situations professionally. Ability to collaborate with staff, departments, officials, external agencies, and the public. Ability to support and implement departmental goals, policies, and procedures. Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays. Frequent use of a computer, software packages, standard office equipment, and small hand tools is required. Regular sitting, standing, walking, talking, handling, feeling or operating objects, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling. Occasional reaching with hands and arms, climbing and balancing. Regular physical activity with heavy lifting, up to fifty (50) pounds; occasionally, the employee must push or pull up to fifty (50) pounds. Requires close and distance vision acuity and the ability to adjust focus, allowing a broad field of vision. The employee must communicate clearly and effectively; must understand and be understood. The noise level is usually high, arising from a moderate to extreme degree. The employee may occasionally work with or around hazardous items or hazardous conditions such as mechanical equipment, electrical equipment, chemicals, or radiant energy.
