Commissioning Engineer I Salary Grade: G08 Salary Range: $58,128 - $77,021 - $95,912 This position complies with NERC-CIP cybersecurity standards. Candidates must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment, including background checks and cyber security training, before employment or transfer. Summary Under supervision, organizes and coordinates activities related to installing and commissioning substation equipment, including protection/control systems, transformers, and circuit breakers. Responsibilities Implement safety barriers to prevent outages during work. Conduct site observations and prepare reports. Prepare punch list reports and determine corrective actions. Respond to RFIs as requested. Review drawings and submittals. Support safety culture and monitor contractor performance. Perform administrative duties and manage multiple tasks efficiently. Create and execute test procedures ensuring equipment functionality. Lead commissioning work with technicians, electricians, and contractors. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math. 1-2 years of commissioning experience, including 1 year as lead engineer. Valid driver’s license; NETA certification recommended. Strong communication skills and ability to interpret complex instructions. Knowledge of protection/control systems, codes, and standards. Proficiency with test equipment and software. Ability to work in physically demanding environments and lift up to 50 pounds. Work involves both office and field environments, with travel across the state.
