Steel FitterAs a Steel Fitter you will fabricate, align, and assemble steel components for ship interiors, exteriors, and shipyard structures at our 63-acre waterfront facility.Key ResponsibilitiesRead and interpret blueprints and specificationsMeasure, align, fit, tack-weld, and weld steel componentsOperate fabrication tools and equipment (grinders, torches, welders, shears, cranes, hoists)Move and position materials safely, manually or with lifting equipmentInspect work for quality and troubleshoot equipment issuesFollow all safety, quality, and company policiesPhysical RequirementsLift, carry, push, and pull materials up to 65 lbs.Perform frequent climbing, kneeling, crawling, and work in confined or elevated spaces.Work safely in confined spaces, at heights, and in all weather conditions.Use hand and power tools in physically demanding positions for extended periods, including in all weather conditions.Core CompetenciesAction Oriented -- Taking on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm.Drives Results -- Consistently achieving results, even under tough circumstances.Optimizes Work Processes (Quality & Continuous Improvement) -- Knowing the most effective and efficient processes to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement.Must be 18 years old.Must be a U.S. Person.Must be able to work at heights.Must be able to work in confined and enclosed spaces.Must be able to work in all weather conditions.Knowledge of construction materials/methods and basic blueprint readingAbility to work independently with minimal supervision.Education/Experience3+ years of steel fitting or related experienceShipyard experience a plusAbility to thrive in a fast-paced environmentCompany Overview: Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding (FBS), located in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, has been a leader in ship construction, repair, and conversions since 1918.
