CNC MACHINIST - 1ST SHIFT
Lake Mills, IA (north central Iowa, Mason City / Forest City area) | Full-time, direct hire
Schedule: 1st Shift, 7:00a-3:30p
Pay: $20-$24/hour depending on experience
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
A custom plastics and metals contract manufacturer is adding a CNC Machinist at its Lake Mills, IA site. You will set up and run CNC equipment to produce precision parts to quality specifications. Equipment includes routers, lathes, milling machines and saws. Reports to the General Manager.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Set up, program and operate CNC milling machines to produce precision components per print and job specs
- Adjust cutting tools, speeds and feeds
- Inspect parts with calipers, micrometers, height gauges and other precision tools to hold tight tolerances
- Keep detailed setup sheets, program files and inspection records for repeatability
- Support continuous improvement in machining processes, tooling and fixture design
- Perform routine machine maintenance and cleaning
- Other duties as assigned
WHAT YOU NEED
- 2+ years of CNC milling experience
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Solid knowledge of cutting tool selection and tool life optimization
- Able to read and interpret blueprints, tolerances and GD&T symbols
- Experience machining tight tolerance parts
- Comfortable helping with fixture design and setup optimization
- Prior experience in a regulated or quality-driven environment (e.g., ISO 9001)

WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Must be able to lift parts up to 70 lbs repeatedly throughout the day
- Loud noise, moving mechanical parts and varying temperatures
- PPE required; standing for extended periods
- Materials may include acrylic, polycarbonate, FR-4 epoxy glass, GPO polyester glass, HDPE, glass epoxy, G9 melamine laminate, copper, brass and aluminum
