Construction Estimator

We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to prepare accurate project cost estimates by analyzing plans, specifications, labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor pricing. The ideal candidate will work closely with vendors and contractors, support the bidding process, assess project risks, and monitor project costs throughout construction. This role requires strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of construction estimating and project execution.

Job Roles and Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate cost estimates for construction projects.
• Research pricing for materials, labor, equipment, transportation, and subcontractor services.
• Read and interpret architectural drawings and project specifications.
• Obtain and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations.
• Build and maintain relationships with suppliers, vendors, and subcontractors.
• Assess project risks and identify potential cost impacts.
• Prepare detailed bid proposals and project quotations.
• Support bid preparation and contract acquisition activities.
• Monitor project costs throughout different phases of construction.
• Ensure estimates align with project scope and budget requirements.
• Coordinate with purchasing and project management teams.
• Maintain estimating documentation and cost databases.
• Manage multiple estimates while meeting strict bid deadlines.

Qualifications and Certifications

Required Qualifications

• Experience as a Construction Estimator or Cost Estimator.
• Strong knowledge of commercial and/or residential construction.
• Ability to read architectural drawings and construction documents.
• Experience preparing detailed project estimates and bid proposals.
• Knowledge of construction materials, labor, and equipment costing.
• Strong analytical and mathematical skills.
• Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
• Strong communication and negotiation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and estimating software.

Preferred Certifications

• Certified Professional Estimator (CPE) - Preferred
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 - Preferred
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field - Preferred
