Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Mother-Baby / Couplet Care / Post Partum Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year preferred License: Current nursing license required Certifications: BLS, NRP Must-Have: Experience in postpartum and antepartum care. Ability to take postpartum patients receiving magnesium sulfate infusions for pre-eclampsia. Experience with fetal heart tones and/or non-stress tests (NSTs) once per shift. Comfortable floating to med/surg patients if unable to take antepartum patients. Description: This position requires a registered nurse specializing in Mother-Baby care. The ideal candidate will provide care for postpartum patients and be familiar with antepartum protocols. Experience in larger facilities and Level 1 trauma centers is preferred. Patient care will involve managing antepartum and postpartum patients. The nurse will work with a patient ratio of 3-4 couplets per shift. Weekly schedules will include 3-4 weekend shifts as per policy. Applicants should be prepared for self-scheduling but note that block scheduling is not guaranteed. Floating to women's special care areas may be required based on facility needs. All candidates must maintain compliance with necessary certifications and health requirements. Daily census is expected to be around 40 patients, covering various diagnoses. Interdisciplinary support will be available from various services. Strong knowledge of administration of blood products and breastfeeding protocols is essential. Administration of medication therapies including magnesium sulfate is part of the job responsibilities. The ability to provide discharge teaching to parents and newborn assessment is required.
