Join Our Team as a Regional Medical Director

We are looking for a Regional Medical Director (RMD) to enhance our veterinary hospitals in the Austin region. This position is ideal for a veterinarian who is passionate about mentoring fellow doctors, fostering strong hospital teams, and driving practice growth while upholding high standards of medical care .

In the capacity of Regional Medical Director, you will act as a clinical ally to our veterinarians and hospitals , collaborating with local teams and partnering with a Regional Operations Director to ensure that medical leadership aligns with the success of our hospitals. This role combines mentorship, teamwork, and strategic guidance —ensuring that veterinarians feel supported, hospitals are well-equipped, and patients receive top-notch care.

Your Responsibilities

• Mentor and Develop Veterinarians: Collaborate with DVMs throughout the region to facilitate their professional development via mentorship, coaching, and tailored development plans. Conduct evaluations and enhance their medical, surgical, and communication skills.

• Enhance Hospital Collaboration: Regularly engage with hospital teams to exchange best practices, support workflow enhancements, and ensure that veterinarians have the necessary clinical resources to serve their communities effectively.

• Recruit and Nurture Veterinary Talent: Assist in attracting and onboarding exceptional veterinarians to the region. Provide mentorship and integration support for new doctors to ensure their long-term success and engagement.

• Collaborate for Hospital Success: Work closely with your Regional Operations Director to assist hospital leaders with scheduling, equipment investments, and aligning medical initiatives with hospital growth.

• Drive Growth in the Houston Market: Aid hospitals in expanding services, enhancing medical capabilities, and supporting thoughtful regional growth while maintaining high-quality medical standards.

• Shape the Future Veterinary Workforce: Support externship and internship initiatives and represent our organization within the veterinary community to help cultivate our future talent pipeline.

What Success Looks Like in Your First Year

First 90 Days: Establish relationships with veterinarians and hospital teams while assessing the strengths and opportunities of each facility in the region.

3–6 Months: Initiate regular collaboration and mentorship with doctors, provide clinical resources to hospital teams, and assist in recruiting and onboarding veterinarians.

6–12 Months: Foster collaboration among hospitals, support service expansion where feasible, and help cultivate emerging medical leaders in the region.

What You Bring to the Team

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution.
• Current state licensure in good standing.
• Experience managing multiple veterinary hospitals is essential.
• Previous experience as a Lead Veterinarian or hospital ownership is highly preferred.
• Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, with the ability to present key information succinctly.
• Strong organizational abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
