Tax Assistant Position

Washington & Co Inc. is a strategic tax and accounting advisory firm. We specialize in proactive tax planning for business ownersnot just tax preparation. We help clients reduce tax liability through customized, compliant strategies and year-round advisory support.

We're looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Tax Assistant who's eager to grow into a Tax Preparer role. This is a perfect opportunity for someone who loves learning, enjoys working with numbers, and wants to build a career in tax and accounting at a strategic, forward-thinking firm.

Responsibilities

• Assist the tax team in gathering, organizing, and reviewing client documents.
• Input financial data and prepare workpapers for individual and business tax returns.
• Support the preparation of basic tax returns under supervision.
• Communicate with clients to request missing information or clarify details.
• Help implement firm processes such as electronic filing, tax document management, and client onboarding.
• Participate in training and professional development to prepare for advancement.

Required Qualifications

• 12 years of experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or administrative support (preferred).
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Excellent communication skills professional, clear, and client-friendly.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Workspace, or similar tools.
• Experience with tax or accounting software is a plus (e.g., Drake, Lacerte, or QuickBooks).
• Desire to grow into a Tax Preparer role through mentorship and hands-on learning.

Preferred (Not Required)

• EA or CPA (or actively pursuing)
• Experience with S-corps and partnerships

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary: $50,000$55,000 (based on experience)
• 100% Remote
• PTO (single PTO policy)
