Think of this store as their second home! There are a lot of events throughout every season (Duck Race, PorchFest, WinterFest, and more!) and there is plenty of opportunity for growth!

About Tburg:

Tburg is a community based cafe with 2 types of shifts, 1 solo open shift (6:00-2:30) and 2 shifts (7am-3:30pm). The Manager’s schedule will be Sunday-Thursday with flexible hours on Friday & Saturday (open to negotiation).

SUMMARY

The Store Manager is responsible for the overall operations and performance of a single retail cafe. This includes managing daily operations, staff selection and supervision, merchandising, inventory, drink quality, and customer satisfaction in order to meet financial and strategic targets for the espresso bar. The Store Manager must exemplify Gimme! Coffee's vision, mission, and values both as a supervisor (by developing and coaching store staff into a high-functioning team) and operationally (by working regularly on a live bar, optimizing store operations, and creating an outstanding experience for all Gimme customers).

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position directly supervises the Lead Barista and Baristas at their retail cafe.

ESSENTIAL DUTIESLeadership (Major)

• Acts as a role model and on-the-floor leader for customer service, drink preparation, store cleanliness and organization, store atmosphere, and teamwork and respect.

• Communicates effectively and responds rapidly; ensures open lines of communication. Checks email a minimum of 3x daily, posts weekly staff updates to Trello, promptly responds to email and message threads, work orders, and phone calls. Uses daily shift planner effectively to communicate with staff.

• Meets sales targets; constantly reviews store environment and key business indicators to identify opportunities for improvement.

• Builds a strong store team; plans ahead for staffing needs; recruits, interviews, hires, and onboards new staff.

• Collaborates with trainers and Lead Baristas to carry out in-store training for staff as needed.

• Conducts appraisals and performance reviews; provides routine performance feedback and holds staff accountable for their actions through in the moment coaching; carries out appropriate progressive discipline and manages terminations.

• Submits accurate, timely payroll and HR data, including payroll and time off calculations, hiring and termination paperwork, and other requirements.

• Organizes art shows and other customer-facing events that create community engagement.

• Attends regular management team meetings and labs, and communicates proactively with Regional Manager and Trainers about issues and opportunities.

Customer Service & Cafe Environment (Major)

• Leads by example an exceptional level of customer service; ensure that all staff provide excellent customer service, anticipate and respond to customer needs, and proactively resolve customer concerns.

• Ensures that the cafe has a welcoming and pleasant cafe atmosphere.

• Expedites customer orders and line movement.

• Demonstrates and shares knowledge of all product offerings.

Beverage Preparation (Major)

• Prepares and serves all beverages and supply recipes to standard, including espresso, bulk brew, manual brew, specialty drinks, and tea.

• Leads by example efficient workflow, service speed, and clean working environment.

• Continues to learn and share coffee knowledge and actively tastes coffees with staff; consistently tastes barista drinks and gives clear and specific feedback.

• Stays familiar with coffee tasting notes; tastes coffee frequently and maintains knowledge.

• Provides regular coffee quality feedback as requested by the Coffee Department.

Store Operations (Major)

• Reviews and updates sales/labor targets daily. Schedules staff to meet store labor targets; plans ahead to ensure that store continues to meet targets during seasonal and staff changes.

• Orders food, coffee inventory and supplies as needed and follows company standards for merchandising, stocking, rotating and storing products. Completes accurate and timely weekly inventory and sales reports. Monitors COGS and adjusts orders to meet targets.

• Works in a sanitary manner; ensures that the cafe meets Department of Health requirements at all times.

• Ensures that maintenance and cleaning procedures are carried out according to standards; seeks to organize, neaten, and beautify at all times.

• Promptly reports equipment and facilities issues; assists with equipment and facilities maintenance as needed.

• Does deposits and bank runs; ensures that all cash-handling procedures are followed consistently.

• Carries out monthly promo rollout tasks, including point of sale software updates.

Experience, Education, and Training

• Extensive specialty barista experience preferred. Gimme Beverage Preparation certification preferred; must be able to rapidly pass drink certification.

• Two years progressively responsible retail, hospitality or restaurant industry experience, including direct supervisory experience, preferred.

• Working conditions: The worker is subject to occasional outside environmental conditions, noise, hazards (such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working in high places, and exposure to high heat), and is required to function in narrow aisles or passageways.

• Tools used: coffee brewing and grinding equipment; sinks, refrigerators, and registers; ladders and stairs; computers and office equipment.

COMPENSATION

Wage: Store Managers are Exempt Salaried with a starting salary based on experience. This is a non-tipped position. Gimme! Coffee offers a comprehensive compensation and benefits package. Gimme! Coffee is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
