HR Generalist

Job DetailsJob Location: Youngstown Manufacturing Headquarters - Youngstown, OH 44515 Summary: The HR Generalist will manage the day-to-day operations of the Human Resources department, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, payroll processing, benefits administration, compliance, and performance management. This role requires a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and attention to detail in handling sensitive employee and payroll information. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Recruitment & Staffing Manage full-cycle recruitment, including job postings, candidate screening, interviews, and onboarding. Partner with hiring managers to identify staffing needs and ensure timely placement of qualified candidates. Employee Relations Serve as a first point of contact for employee inquiries and workplace issues. Foster a positive, inclusive, and productive workplace culture through engagement initiatives and conflict resolution. HR Administration Maintain and update accurate employee records in HRIS and personnel files. Prepare HR reports, compliance documentation, and organizational charts as needed. Payroll & Compensation Back up Process bi-weekly payroll in collaboration with the Payroll Specialist. Verify timesheets, attendance, and leave data for accuracy before payroll submission. Handle payroll adjustments, deductions, and reimbursements. Ensure payroll compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws. Reconcile payroll discrepancies and maintain confidentiality of employee pay data. Generate and distribute pay statements and year-end tax documents (W-2, 1099, etc.). Assist with salary reviews and compensation benchmarking. Administration of Benefits Back up Administer employee benefits programs (health, dental, retirement, etc.) in collaboration with the Payroll Specialist. Assist employees with benefits enrollment, changes, and claims. Coordinate with vendors to resolve benefit-related issues. Training & Development Support the creation and delivery of employee training and development programs. Track and document training completion and performance evaluations. Compliance Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws, employment standards, and internal HR policies. Update company policies as needed. Maintain awareness of legal requirements and best practices in HR and payroll management. Other duties may be required. Qualifications Qualification Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field. 5-7 years of HR experience, with at least 1 year of direct payroll processing experience (preferred). Working knowledge of HRIS and payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paycom, Workday, Paylocity, or similar). Strong understanding of labor laws, payroll tax regulations, and confidentiality practices. Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
