Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical/ICU - Part Time - Nights

Job Summary MUST have 2+ years of Critical Care experience to be considered for ICU. Location & Work Schedule Methodist Fremont Health Hospital, 450 E 23rd St., Fremont, NE. Work Schedule: 2 12‑hour shifts from 7 pm to 7 am. Part‑time hours with full‑time benefit package. Incentives & Benefits Sign‑on bonus: $16,000 (paid after six months, one year & two years) Tuition reimbursement: $10,000 (paid out over four years) Shift differentials & other financial incentives Tuition assistance Academic sponsorship with Methodist College Free parking Responsibilities The practice of nursing by a registered nurse shall mean the assumption of responsibility and accountability for those nursing actions which include, but are not limited to: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of a nursing diagnosis. Execution of the prescribed diagnostic and therapeutic treatment regimens, administering, delegating, and evaluating nursing activities. Essential Functions Provides an accurate and thorough assessment of the patient/family to identify human responses to actual or potential health conditions. Performs patient care assessments and reassessments based on patient condition and established policy/procedure. Demonstrates the ability to effectively utilize the nursing process when providing assessment for all individuals. Demonstrates the ability to assess and reassess pain and pain management techniques utilized. Documents all assessment and reassessments in an accurate, legible, and timely manner. Formulation of a nursing diagnosis to identify and plan for the needs of an individual, family, or group. Utilizes history and assessment information to identify patient problems and set goals. Formulates a teaching plan based upon identified learning needs. Demonstrates the ability to revise a plan of care as indicated by patient’s response to treatment. Utilizes assessment data and formulates a plan for discharge needs. Implementation of a nursing treatment regimen to provide for the selection, performance and management of proper nursing practices. Performs patient care responsibilities considering needs specific to the standards of care and patient’s age. Performs direct patient care utilizing professional nursing skills and judgment according to physicians and other licensed practitioner’s orders. Teaches health care practices, initiates and participates in patient and family education programs. Demonstrates knowledge of medications and their correct administration based on age of the patient and their condition. Documentation of nursing care meets current standards and policies. Evaluation of the plan of care and treatment for all patients under his/her care to promote resolution of patient problems and positive patient outcomes. Evaluates overall plan daily for effectiveness and makes adjustments as needed to meet patient goals. Evaluates effectiveness of learning and discharge teaching needs. Coordinates and supervises patient care to provide for the management of a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. Communicates pertinent information regarding patient care appropriately and clearly. Demonstrates the ability to assist physicians with procedures and patient rounds. Utilizes effective clinical delegation skills, demonstrating accountability for the scope of practice of the individual being delegated to and evaluation of the outcome of delegation. Consults with co‑workers and other departments as appropriate to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient’s needs and discharge plan. Safety initiative – Complies with Methodist Fremont Health safety policies and procedures and regulatory requirements such as OSHA, Joint Commission, and CLIA. Performs job duties in a manner consistent with organization and departmental safety policies and procedures. Completes departmental safety requirements, e.g., blitz, in‑services, etc., on an annual basis. For Home Health: Understand and implement Medicare requirements in care of the home‑care patients to meet eligibility, documentation and compliance. Patient care is planned and provided based on a comprehensive assessment of patient needs. Utilizes the role of primary nurse to effectively manage patient care from admission to discharge in an appropriate and cost‑effective manner. Documentation is completed in a timely manner and supports the care provided to meet regulatory requirements. Utilizes data from the Oasis comprehensive assessment to plan patient care and monitors outcomes of the care. For Home Health: Coordinates care of home‑care patients to provide for continuity of care. Coordinates care of home‑care patients to provide for continuity of care. Works as an integral part of the Hospice Interdisciplinary team to meet the ongoing needs of hospice patients. Job Requirements Education Graduate from an accredited Diploma School of Nursing/College of Nursing with an Associate of Science Degree in Nursing (ASN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. License/Certifications Required: Current valid Nebraska Registered Nurse (RN) License, valid compact multistate license, or a temporary permit while awaiting licensure required. Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) strongly preferred at time of hire, required within 3 months of hire. Preferred: Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certificate (C.EFM) of Added Qualification from NCC within 1 year of eligibility. Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS). Experience Two to five years previous inpatient nursing experience preferred. Skills/Knowledge/Abilities Knowledge of computer resources. Proficiency in nursing practice.
