Engineering Technician - 1st, 2nd and 3rd shift openings

Job Description Job Description High Level Statement of the Role: The Engineering Ropak Technician is responsible for setting up, operating, troubleshooting, maintaining, and optimizing Ropak machinery to support safe, efficient, and high-quality production operations. This role works closely with the Production Team Lead and Production Manager to ensure production goals, sanitation standards, quality expectations, and operational procedures are consistently met. The Engineering Ropak Technician is also responsible for applying a methodical approach to equipment and production issues through root cause analysis, systematic troubleshooting procedures, accurate documentation of changes, and continuous improvement of processes, procedures, and training methods. Roles and Responsibilities: · Set up machines for production, including calibration, adjustments, and deep cleaning procedures. · Prepare machinery by positioning parts, loading materials, and entering machine settings into production logs. · Monitor equipment performance and production processes while machines are operating. · Inspect products to verify quality standards and identify defects, inconsistencies, or flaws. · Troubleshoot machine issues using a systematic and methodical approach to identify root causes and implement corrective actions. · Perform basic equipment repairs and adjustments prior to escalating issues to Maintenance. · Regularly inspect, clean, and maintain machinery to ensure safe and efficient operation. · Record maintenance activities, machine settings, repairs, and operational changes in required logs and documentation systems. · Complete production reports, including quantities produced, downtime, scrap, and waste tracking. · Follow all health, safety, sanitation, and GMP procedures to maintain a safe work environment and prevent workplace injuries. · Manage time effectively to achieve daily production goals and operational targets. · Assist in training, coaching, and mentoring Ropak Operators to meet production and quality expectations. Technical Skills · Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills · Ability to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions · Knowledge of systematic maintenance and operational procedures · Strong communication, leadership, and coaching abilities · Attention to detail and commitment to product quality · Ability to train, guide, and mentor team members effectively · Strong organizational and time management skills · Commitment to workplace safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards · Ability to maintain accurate records and production documentation · Problem-solving mindset with focus on continuous improvement · Perform and lead Deep Cleaning and Dry Cleaning procedures within the required lead time of 16 hours or less. · Complete and train employees on the 30/60/90-day Ropak Operator training program. · Evaluate current procedures and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency, consistency, safety, and product quality. · Update training methods and operational procedures as processes, equipment, or standards change. · Maintain accurate records of process improvements, troubleshooting findings, corrective actions, and procedural updates. · Successfully complete the Mastery Program and maintain at least six (6) months of qualification. · Operate and maintain the Ultrasonic Washer in the washroom. · Correctly assemble all Ropak parts after ultrasonic washing procedures. · Maintain qualification under Video Jet Laser Guidelines. · Perform daily Ropak maintenance inspections and document findings. · Fully disassemble, clean, inspect, and reassemble the Pheucon system within required lead times. · Maintain strong knowledge of cleaning and sanitation procedures for all product contact surfaces. · Maintain strong knowledge of Ropak Quality Control Daily Shift Tasks. · Properly complete Ropak Settings Adjustment Logs and related production documentation. · Efficiently replace and set up knives, anvils, and jaws on Ropak machines. · Maintain good attendance with fewer than three (3) attendance infractions within a one-year period. · Support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying recurring issues and developing preventative solutions. Ensure all operational and procedural changes are communicated clearly to team members and leadership.
