Job Title: Chemist II - Analytical Chemist

Duration: 12 Months Contract (Possible Extension Based on Performance and Business Needs)

Location: North Chicago, IL 60064 (Abbott Park)

Shift: Monday-Friday | 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM | 8 Hours per Day | Standard Business Hours

Pay Range: $30.00 - $36.00 per hour

Job Summary

Plan and execute assigned laboratory tasks utilizing standard procedures and technical understanding of various techniques to complete assigned tasks. Independently generate precise, reliable, and reproducible data in a timely manner. Document experimentation per regulatory requirements. Demonstrate experimental precision, strong data interpretation skills, and understanding of core discipline. Develop protocols for more complex tests or experiments performed with less defined assays and parameters. Ensure safety and GxP requirements are met when performing tasks and ensure timely, GxP-compliant delivery of high-quality data.

Technical Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with analytical instruments including:
  • HPLC
  • Gas Chromatography
  • LC/MS
  • UV/VIS
  • MS
  • ICP
  • Experience with chromatography data systems such as:
  • Empower
  • OpenLab
  • Chromeleon
  • Strong documentation skills.
  • Knowledge of GMP and GLP requirements.
Nice-to-Have Skills
  • Research presentations and/or publications.
  • Experience presenting findings to scientific organizations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute assigned laboratory tasks using standard procedures and technical expertise.
  • Generate precise, reliable, and reproducible data independently.
  • Document experimental work in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Interpret data and demonstrate strong understanding of core scientific principles.
  • Develop protocols for complex tests and experiments.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and GxP requirements.
  • Deliver high-quality data within established timelines.
  • Utilize basic computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and instrument-related systems.
  • Present findings from defined experiments to larger audiences.
Required Skills
  • Solid use of analytical instruments including HPLC, Gas Chromatography, UV/VIS, MS, ICP, etc.
  • Laboratory research experience (academic and/or industry) with a proven track record of presentations/publications.
  • Familiarity with GMP and GLP and/or experience working in a regulated environment.
  • Ability to present findings to larger groups with strong communication skills.
  • Strong background in chemistry fundamentals.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biochemistry, Medical Technology, Biology, or related field with a minimum of 5 years of laboratory experience. OR
  • Master's degree in a related scientific field with a minimum of 2 years of laboratory experience.
Preferred:
  • Pharmaceutical industry laboratory experience.
