Now it’s your turn.Learn more about us at You Will Make an ImpactThe Student Retention Support will perform a variety of duties and responsibilities involved in student attendance and readmission, and book retrieval. This position will interact with students, families, school personnel, community agencies and law enforcement.RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: This list is illustrative only and is not intended to be a comprehensive list of tasks performed by this classification. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the job.Investigate student absences and withdrawals and encourage school readmissionContact parents/legal guardian and students to obtain information concerning reasons for pupil absences from schoolMake home visits to follow up on attendance problems and to observe home situations that may interfere with attendanceParticipate in Attendance Intervention Meetings (AIM) and Student Retention Meetings (SRM)Secure and track return of school booksCollaborate with school personnel to investigate and address student retentionDevelop, establish and coordinate community resource contactsProvide weekly progress reports to supervisor regarding student and asset retrieval along with comprehensive report tracking all contact with current or former studentsAnswer inquiries from students, parents/legal guardian regarding attendance records and school re-admittanceDocument student attendance progress in the student databaseApply and provide information, forms and necessary documents regarding school policy and proceduresWork with local law enforcement for student retentionType and prepare a wide variety of documents including letters, reportsCompile and analyze informationPerform a wide variety of general clerical and administrative work including the maintenance of accurate and detailed reports, verifying accuracy of information, and researchParticipate in staff meetings and trainingsAdministrative duties, responsibilities, and activities may be assigned or changed from time to timeAdhere to attendance policiesResearch the enrollment status of students leaving our school at outside schools and update codes as neededSPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC:Modern office methods, practices, proceduresProficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPointGood English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.Data analysis, entry and work processing methods, techniques, and programsUnderstanding of ADA and attendance accounting proceduresTelephone techniques and etiquetteInterpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesyRecord keeping practicesAbility to:Learn, interpret, apply and communicate school rules, regulations, and policiesWork effectively in the absence of supervisionPerform data entry and data compilation from a variety of sourcesPerform work with speed and accuracyUnderstand and carry out oral and written directionsStrong organizational and planning skills; Meet schedules and timelinesWork cooperatively with others (parents/legal guardians, students, and school officials)Ability to handle multiple competing assignments and projectsCommunicate effectively, both orally and in writingMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:One year experience in a public school environment or public social services backgroundCommunity or school relations work experience, including working with courts and law enforcementProficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Email)High School Diploma or GED equivalent; college coursework or CASCWA training a plusTRAVEL: Ability to travel up to 40% (to include student homes)PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Mental Demands: high workflow management, high project coordinationFinger Dexterity: using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers togetherTalking: especially where one must convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quicklyAverage Hearing: able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary informationAverage Visual Abilities: ordinary acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or operate machineryPhysical Strength: sedentary work. Sitting most of the time, and occasionally exerts up to 10 lbs. of force (almost all office jobs)Frequent multi-tasking, changing of task priorities, repetitious exacting work requiredWorking in a noisy, distracting environment with frequent deadline pressures #J-18808-Ljbffr
