Job Overview

The Cardiac Sonographer Advanced performs clinical echocardiographic studies for congenital heart disease on patients from neonates to adults, including complex cardiovascular malformations and technically advanced cases. This role demonstrates expert-level knowledge and proficiency in pediatric echocardiography and cardiac ultrasound techniques. The Cardiac Sonographer Advanced mentors and trains staff, physicians, fellows, and students; supports program development; and serves as a clinical expert, quality leader, and resource within the team.

• Shift: 7:45am-4:15pm clinic and 7:30am-4:00pm hospital. Rotating call weeknights, weekends and holidays
  
  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all the following essential functions. These examples do not include all the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

1. Independently perform echocardiograms on patients from neonates to adults across the Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO) system of care, following established protocols to evaluate congenital heart disease. Serves as a clinical expert and resource to the team.
2. Create detailed and accurate preliminary reports, perform advanced measurements, and promptly notify physicians of critical findings.
3. Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, families, and staff. Deliver age-appropriate care by preparing patients for procedures and ensuring comfort and understanding.
4. Model CHCO's standards of behavior, foster strong relationships, and consistently deliver exceptional service to patients and families.
5. Assist cardiologists with complex procedures within scope of practice, following best practices for disinfection and procedural protocols.
6. Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling, including variable shifts, locations, call responsibilities, and weekends.
7. Manage patient flow effectively, prioritize urgent cases, and support efficient clinic operations.
8. Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment, ensuring timely reporting and resolution of malfunctions.
9. Use EMR and PACS systems with a high level of proficiency for documentation, reporting, and workflow management.Ensure compliance with QA/QC and safety standards, including requirements from The Joint Commission, IAC, and state regulations.
10. Maintain current certifications and credentialing, attend mandatory meetings, and complete all required education and training.
11. Train and mentor cardiology fellows, students, sonographers, and other learners; contribute to the development of educational content.
12. Support and guide advanced imaging techniques, including stress echocardiography, 3D imaging, ultrasound-enhancing agents, and research protocols. Lead or coordinate key initiatives as assigned by leadership, such as IAC accreditation efforts, research programs, quality improvement initiatives, and education program development.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Associates degree and/or graduate of a formal sonography program and/or completion of registry qualification requirements is required.
Experience: Five years of pediatric cardiac sonography experience.
Equivalency: Two (2) years of pediatric cardiac sonography experience may be considered in lieu of an associate degree or formal sonography program, provided the candidate meets registry eligibility requirements.
Certification(s):
* Pediatric Echocardiography Registry required;
o Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, Pediatric Echocardiography (RDCS, PE) through ARDMS or;
o Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) through CCI
* BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association with at least 6 months left before expiration is required upon hire

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience. Hourly Range: $48.94 to $73.41.

***Eligible Incentives: $20,000 Sign-On Bonus + relocation assistance available for eligible candidates.
