If you're an experienced Laboratory Assistant/Phlebotomist with current Epic experience , this is an excellent opportunity to join a respected acute care hospital on California's beautiful Central Coast.

Work alongside an experienced laboratory team while enjoying coastal living and a supportive environment.

Position Details

• Position: Laboratory Assistant (SEIU)

• Location: San Luis Obispo, California

• Contract: 8 Weeks

• Schedule:

  • Rotating 5×8-hour shifts

  • Shift times include:

    • 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM

    • 9:00 AM – 7:30 PM

    • 1:30 PM – 12:00 AM

    • 9:00 PM – 7:00 AM

• Weekend Requirement: Same schedule as weekdays

• Call Required: No

• EMR: Epic (Current Epic experience required)

What You'll Need

• High School Diploma or GED

• Current Certified Phlebotomy Technician I (CPT-I) License

• Current BLS Certification

• Current Epic experience (Required)

• Acute care phlebotomy experience preferred

What You'll Do

• Perform venipuncture and specimen collection using age-appropriate techniques

• Process, label, accession, and prepare laboratory specimens

• Enter patient registrations and laboratory orders accurately

• Package and transport specimens while maintaining specimen integrity

• Monitor laboratory workflow and prioritize urgent specimens

• Answer laboratory calls and communicate results when appropriate

• Maintain inventory, documentation, and quality standards

• Support a fast-paced hospital laboratory environment
