Software Systems Administrator

Software Systems Administrator Responsibilities Drive results that directly support engineering, manufacturing, and other business groups. Effectively manage processes and support documentation for software systems. Analyze, develop, write, and maintain code for reporting performance metrics with input from engineering and business groups. Collaborate with leaders and stakeholders to identify areas of improvement in software systems and supporting processes. Develop and train software users. Support indirect business processes related to user interaction with the software. Foster collaboration between engineering groups to identify and adopt new engineering concepts, technologies, techniques, standards, and procedures. Qualifications Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or an equivalent field. Work Experience: 5+ years of software administration, including leading at least one large system upgrade/migration for 100+ users and managing at least five software platforms. Knowledge & Skills: Proficient in Visual Studio and at least two programming languages (e.g., Python, C#, C++, Java, Go, Rust). Ability to handle multiple concurrent projects, balancing resources, timing, and quality. Strong collaboration skills and solid understanding of engineering technical issues related to development cycles and operations workflows. Preferred Qualifications Experience with engineering software systems such as QA Trax, LabVIEW, National Instruments, or high‑speed data collection systems. Experience with large enterprise‑level data collection systems, SQL database management, and Git & GitHub workflow creation. Experience building software systems from scratch or serving as a subject‑matter expert for custom systems. Strong communication skills and a proven ability to support engineers and technical groups from a software standpoint. Proficiency in using AI tools such as GitHub Copilot or Claude for code generation and modification. Self‑driven, highly motivated, flexible, and capable of rapid learning. Physical Demands Regularly requires speaking, hearing, and using hands to manipulate objects or controls. Regularly stands and walks; may stoop, bend, or reach above shoulder level. Occasionally lifts up to 25 pounds and performs tasks requiring sustained computer work with periods of sitting and close vision. Occasional travel may be required.
