Minimum Qualifications The Hawaii State Department of Education requires a Bachelor's Degree for all teacher, librarian, or counselor positions, except designated Career and Technology Education (CTE) roles. If hired without completing a Teacher's Education Program, you must obtain a valid Hawaii teaching license within three years. You must enroll in a program that continues your employment and, each year, demonstrate active pursuit of meeting Hawaii licensing requirements set by the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board. Upon hire, a valid Hawaii teaching license or Emergency Hire Permit is required. Preferred Qualifications Valid Hawaiian Immersion license from the Hawaii Teacher Standards Board.
