Clinical Biomarker Lead

Meet Life Sciences is representing a well-funded, clinical-stage biotechnology company seeking a Clinical Biomarker Lead to join its Translational Science team.

This position requires a candidate to be local to San Diego, California (Relocation OK).

This individual will play a key role in the end-to-end planning and execution of clinical biomarker strategy across early-stage clinical programs in oncology and autoimmune disease. The position will work closely with biomarker operations, research, clinical science, and clinical operations teams to ensure timely clinical sample evaluation, build robust biomarker datasets, and generate actionable insights from early clinical trial data.

This is an opportunity to help shape clinical development strategy by integrating translational, bioanalytical, and patient-level clinical data to inform patient selection, response/resistance biology, and future study design.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end execution of clinical biomarker strategy across early-stage oncology and autoimmune clinical programs.
• Organize and maintain clinical biomarker, bioanalytical, and patient-level datasets for ongoing clinical studies.
• Analyze translational and clinical datasets to identify potential biomarkers of response, resistance, pharmacodynamic activity, and patient selection.
• Integrate functional biological readouts with clinicopathological and clinical trial data to generate development-relevant insights.
• Partner with biomarker operations and clinical operations teams to oversee clinical sample tracking, timelines, data collection, and distribution.
• Manage external specialty labs and CROs, including oversight of proposals, timelines, experimental design, data analysis, and reporting.
• Prepare and present biomarker data to internal stakeholders across Translational Science, Clinical Science, Research, Immunology, and CMC.
• Conduct scientific literature reviews to support target biology, clinical relevance, assay strategy, and translational decision-making.
• Work cross-functionally to help drive scientific programs and inform portfolio-level clinical development decisions.

Ideal Background

• PhD in Immunology, Clinical/Health Sciences, Bioinformatics, Translational Medicine, or a related scientific discipline.
• 4+ years of relevant experience, ideally within biotech/pharma or a clinical-translational research setting.
• Strong background in clinical biomarker analysis, translational medicine, immuno-oncology, solid tumor oncology, and/or immunology.
• Hands-on experience designing, building, analyzing, and interpreting clinical biomarker datasets.
• Ability to translate complex biological and clinical datasets into clear, actionable insights.
• Experience with data analysis and visualization tools such as Excel and GraphPad; R or Python experience preferred.
• Experience with EDC systems, clinical data listings, and GCP principles is highly preferred.
• Prior experience managing external CROs, specialty labs, or biomarker vendors is strongly preferred.
• Strong communication, analytical, and cross-functional collaboration skills in a fast-paced biotech environment.
