RN Forensic Nurse - PRN Baylor Scott & White Health - Temple, Texas Join a Specialized Team Making a Difference - Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) - Forensic Services to join our highly specialized team in Temple, Texas. This PRN opportunity offers the unique chance to provide forensic nursing care to both adult and pediatric patients who have experienced sexual assault, abuse, or violence. As a Forensic RN, you will practice autonomously within your nursing scope while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure patients receive expert clinical care, advocacy, and support during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. Position Details Location: Temple, TX Department: Forensic Services Schedule: PRN Shift: Variable Patient Population: Adult and Pediatric Essential Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive forensic assessments for adult and pediatric patients. Provide compassionate, trauma-informed care to survivors of sexual assault and abuse. Collect, document, and preserve forensic evidence in accordance with legal and regulatory standards. Coordinate referrals and collaborate with physicians, law enforcement, social services, and community resources as appropriate. Deliver patient and family education, support, and advocacy throughout the care process. Maintain accurate clinical and forensic documentation. Participate in ongoing training, certification, and professional development activities. Minimum Qualifications Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Current Texas RN license or compact RN license. Minimum Of Several Years Of Nursing Experience Required. Ability to work night shifts and participate in specialized forensic training. Strong critical thinking, communication, and assessment skills. Commitment to providing compassionate, patient-centered care. Preferred Qualifications Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) experience and certified SANE-A and SANE-P Previous emergency, trauma, forensic, or pediatric nursing experience. Experience caring for vulnerable populations in high-acuity or sensitive situations. Job Summary The Registered Nurse on Unit is a key player in patient care management, following our nursing practice model. They work with other health care staff to deliver patient care effectively. Our Registered Nurses use the nursing process efficiently. They diagnose patient responses to health issues and create care plans accordingly. It includes evaluating healthcare needs and responses. Facilitate learning for all members of the healthcare team, including patients, families, and nursing staff, ensuring everyone is well-informed. Use problem-solving strategies and utilize available resources to support patients, family and staff as part of a systems thinking approach. Key Success Factors Familiarity with nursing and patient care standards and procedures. Awareness of legal requirements and standards of certification and accreditation bodies, including the specifics of the hospital and respective department/unit. Good command of medical terminology, with a focus on healthcare promotion, risk reduction, and disease prevention. Effective communication skills, along with social aptitude for interacting with diverse stakeholders. Possessing critical thinking and problem-solving skills is crucial. Capability to identify and report changes in patient conditions, develop, and modify patient care plans as required. Basic computer skills necessary for day-to-day assignments. Qualifications Completion of an accredited course or have at least 2 years of experience surpassing the minimal qualification required. Field of Study: The applicable major should be nursing.
