Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Outpatient Infusion/Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Shift Hours per Shift: 8 Experience: Minimum of 1 year of outpatient infusion/oncology experience License: RN License Certifications: BLS, ONS Chemotherapy/Immunotherapy Certification Must-Have: Chemo administration experience Peripheral IV, Port-a-Cath, and PICC line access skills Great assessment skills and comfortable recognizing adverse reactions Comfortable drawing blood from ports for labs Description: The facility has a total of 205 beds, including a Level II NICU. This unit includes 5 chairs dedicated to outpatient infusion and oncology. The patient population consists of adults only. Common diagnoses include oncology patients requiring long-term IV antibiotics, injections, blood, and platelet infusions. Chemotherapy agents will be administered, so candidates must be comfortable with this process. The department averages around 10 patients per day. Chemotherapy patients will not be scheduled after 1400. The clinic has support resources, including a shared clinic lead and scheduling personnel. An oncologist is available on-site and can respond to urgent needs. Rapid response protocols are in place, and other medical staff can respond when necessary. The staff includes one other infusion RN. Familiarity with EMR systems is preferred, although not required. IV pumps and medication dispensing systems are utilized in the unit. Floating may be required to other infusion centers. Scheduling allows for some request time off, with holiday operations limited. Shift hours are from Monday to Friday, 0800 to 1630, with the possibility of staying longer to complete infusions. Scrub color is navy.
