Direct Support Professional Lead

Job Summary and Responsibilities As our Resident Services Supervisor, you will empower individuals with developmental disabilities to live fulfilling, high-quality lives through direct care and dedicated support. Every day you will oversee the seamless operation of your assigned department, acting as a department lead to ensure all essential duties are completed across shifts. You will directly support residents in achieving their personal goals and dreams, and actively facilitate their engagement and participation within the community. Responsibilities Build a positive rapport with people by learning their wants, needs, and desires. Learns about the person’s spirituality, social history and life experiences through education and a variety of community experiences. Uses the person’s plan, Personal Outcome Measures information, and other assessments to learn about each person’s goals and dreams, supports each person to direct their own services, achieve their goals, and remove barriers that hinder the accomplishment of those goals. Ensures each person within the department has all of their basic assurances met. Attends program training with the QIDP and accurately implements all OSP/PCSP programs, learning objectives, and supports; attends team meetings and completes assessments as requested. Documents in an accurate and timely manner in all applicable records, charts and files of people supported. Learns about people’s vocational, community and social interests through experience and exposure. Assists people to remain connected to their natural supports (family, close friends, boyfriend, girlfriend, etc.). Supports people to be active members of the community (employment, volunteer work, clubs, church activities, etc.) by emphasizing choices and options. Maintains a valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and has access to a vehicle. Learns about the best possible health needs (including physical and mental health) for the person you are supporting, with knowledge of medications taken and their effects. Supports people to become involved in their personal health needs, accompanies them to medical appointments, provides support during medical procedures, and completes follow-up recommendations. Administers medications and completes treatments according to the Medication Administration Record. Maintains current First Aid and CPR certification. Assists and supports people to have a safe and clean environment in which to live and work. Learns about nutritional and healthy lifestyle recommendations through meal planning and preparation. Provides assistance in hygiene, grooming, and attire to help people look their best. Serves as a role model and mentor for all DSPs in the department. Trains staff and completes observations to ensure the highest quality of services are being provided. Coaches in the moment, documents performance in the employee log and reports concerns to the manager. Monitors staffing schedules and ensures active supports are provided. Assures department’s petty cash and procurement card are used appropriately. Assists with financial expenditures/budgets for people supported, including cash, checks, debit cards, and EBT cards; helps people pay their bills and keep accurate financial records. Assists people supported to learn about personal finances, including money management and budgeting. Job Requirements High School or equivalent diploma. Driver’s License: ND, upon hire.
