Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education, active Special Education Teacher license and minimum 1+ years Special Education Teacher experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A rewarding opportunity awaits for an experienced Special Education Teacher to support a kindergarten autism classroom on a contract basis near Newark, NJ. In this role, you’ll guide a small classroom of six kindergarten students with support from two paraprofessionals, focusing on nurturing each child's unique strengths and fostering their growth in a supportive environment.
Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education teaching certification
- Previous experience working with students diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder, preferably at the kindergarten or early elementary level
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation
- Patience, empathy, and commitment to individualized instruction
- Excellent communication and collaborative skills to work effectively with paraprofessionals and other school staff
Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction to meet the diverse needs of six students on the autism spectrum
- Work closely with two paraprofessionals to maintain a structured, positive, and engaging classroom environment
- Develop, implement, and monitor IEP goals in collaboration with related service providers and families
- Employ evidence-based strategies to support student learning, social skills, and emotional regulation
- Document student progress and adapt teaching methods as needed
- Maintain open communication with parents and participate in team meetings as required
