Principal AI Computer Vision Engineer

Medtronic seeks a Principal AI Computer Vision Engineer to lead computer vision model development and deployment across global manufacturing sites. This role combines hands-on model development with technical mentorship, focusing on scaling repeatable deployment patterns for visual process monitoring initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Develop, train, and optimize computer vision models for manufacturing inspection, monitoring, anomaly detection, and classification tasks
• Lead image dataset development including collection, annotation, quality assessment, and curation activities
• Support deployment of models through the AMI platform and collaborate on end-to-end solution implementation
• Coach manufacturing site engineers and project teams on computer vision development and model evaluation methods
• Create reusable datasets, model templates, and deployment workflows to accelerate future implementations across sites

Requirements

• 7+ years experience with bachelor's degree, or 5+ years with advanced degree
• 3+ years applying AI and computer vision solutions in manufacturing or operations
• 3+ years developing, training, and deploying computer vision models in production
• Experience with industrial machine vision software such as MVTec HALCON
• Proficiency in model evaluation, validation, and lifecycle management
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality systems, and operational technology environments
• Ability to mentor technical teams on computer vision and AI best practices
